What is it?
Put simply, it’s a cash incentive for owners of older diesel cars, of any make, who upgrade to a new vehicle that’s more efficient in fuel consumption and has lower emissions.
If you have an older car, now could be the perfect time to trade in and trade up to a new, cleaner model thanks to a range of scrappage schemes. Popular manufacturers including Audi, BMW, Ford Mercedes & Volkswagen will offer generous trade-in deals if you buy a new car while trading in your older car. More brands will probably announce scrappage schemes soon so check back here regularly to see what options there are.

A contribution from £2,000 to £8,000 from Audi
Under the programme, you’ll qualify for the scrappage incentive contribution towards a new Audi if your current car is a Euro 1 (EU1) to Euro 4 (EU4) emission standard diesel passenger car, first registered before 2010. Alternatively, feel free to contact your local Dealership to find out more.
Your current car doesn’t have to be an Audi, but please note the scrappage incentive is not available in conjunction with any other offers.

Terms & Conditions
In order to qualify for the Audi scrappage incentive, terms and conditions will apply. The old vehicle to be scrapped must be a Euro 1 to Euro 4 diesel passenger car first registered on or before 31 December 2009. Any make and any model is accepted, and must have been owned for 6 months or more. The scrappage incentive is available for selected new petrol, diesel or e-tron Audi cars only; used cars will not qualify. It is not available in combination with any other offers, including any finance offers. The new vehicle purchase is for retail customers only and must be registered in the same customer name as the old vehicle being traded in. The scrappage incentive is applicable for new Audi orders placed up to and including 31 December 2017 and registered by 31 March 2018.
BMW have recently announced a new lower emissions incentive scheme, to allow owners of a Euro 4 (EU4) emission standard or below diesel vehicle* to trade-in their vehicle for any model across the BMW Range with emissions of 130g/km and below, or any BMW i or iPerformance model, with an additional discount of £2,000.
The discount is available to drivers of EU4 or below diesel models* towards a new BMW or MINI. If you currently own a diesel vehicle that was registered before January 2011, you may be eligible for this offer. The new model being purchased must have calculated CO2 emissions of 130g/km or lower (a full list of applicable BMW Models can be found below). You can take advantage of the scheme until 31 December 2017.
To find out more about how you could benefit from the scheme your chosen BMW Centre will shortly be in touch with more information.
The Euro 6 (EU6) efficiency rating – what does it mean?
EU6 is a piece of European Legislation aimed at reducing exhaust pollutants that have an impact on air quality, to make cars more environmentally friendly. The legislation sets restrictions on how much nitrogen oxide (NOx) and hydrocarbon gases may be emitted by a road vehicle.
To put the standards into perspective, the SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders) claims: “It would take 50 new cars today to produce the same amount of pollutant emissions as one vehicle built in the 1970s.”
All new BMW and MINI vehicles sold today are EU6 compliant and we are proud to use some of today’s cleanest and most efficient engine technology across our entire model range. Learn more about BMW Engine Technology
