The smarter supermini
Who makes Dacia Sandero? The Dacia Sandero is classed as a subcompact supermini car produced and engineered jointly by the French manufacturer Renault and its Romanian subsidiary Dacia since 2007, currently at its third generation.
In January 2013, What Car? awarded the second generation Sandero as the ‘Best supermini less than £12,000’, highlighting that it offers something genuinely new and different in that it brings real space for bargain prices”. They then awarded the Sandero the same again in 2014 and 2015.
People often ask, why is the Dacia Sandero so cheap? Because the Sandero shares a platform with the current-generation Renault Clio and Nissan Juke, they say that the Dacia is cheaper is because Renault and Nissan have done the hard work! How much is a new Dacia Sandero? Prices start from £7,170.
Performance and drive
There are two versions of its turbocharged 1.0-litre TCe engine for the Sandero: a TCe 90 petrol and a TCe 100 Bi Fuel. The first offers 89bhp and a six-speed manual gearbox and in tests managed 0-60mph in 11.0 seconds. Is there a Dacia Sandero automatic? Yes, there is the option of a CVT automatic.
The engine delivers enhanced performance due to more torque and reduced fuel costs for customers – while also delivering lower emissions. It’s a lightweight, hi-tech engine with advances such as a light-pressure turbo and multipoint fuel injection.
